Our Church Centre and Community Project

We see part of our mission as developing links with the local community and providing a centre for activities. In March 2008 we officially launched our new community project "Interact4all", in partnership with Lancashire College and Social Services. This followed three years of work "behind the scenes" by a small steering committee. We are grateful for their vision and all that they achieved.

Funded by a grant from the Big Lottery, the project included a minor refurbishment of the community space within the building and the provision of an up-to-date IT suite. The grant will enable the project to be run over a period of three years, offering training courses for children, young people and adults. The centre will also be used as an outreach venue for learners with learning disabilities, enabling them to take an active part within their local community.

The project was officially named and the logo unveiled in July 2008, following a competition in Bishop Martin School. Details of the winning entries can be found here.

Lots of courses have been run since the project started and many of them have been oversubscribed. They have offered people the opportunity to make new friends as well as learn new skills which may be of benefit when finding further employment.

Courses run so far have included, Computers for beginners, Internet and E-mail, Desktop Publishing, Web Design, Family History, British Sign Language, First Aid and Food Hygiene.
