Our Explorers lunch club for junior children has now been running weekly at St Thomas the Martyr school since February 2009. During that time thirty-two children have been involved and we’ve had a lot of fun as we’ve explored different themes. The prayer tent and prayer board continue to be very popular. In October 2009 we launched the club at Bishop Martin school, with thirty-six children attending weekly. We hope to continue to develop this over the next year as we explore our faith through games, crafts and activities.

The lunch club doesn’t meet during the last week of each half term. Instead we hold our Explorers "Play & Pray" After School Worship, which is open to children of all ages and their families. We have some refreshments and something for the children (and adults!) to make and then join in some informal worship with actions songs, a story and interactive prayers. The whole session lasts an hour but you don’t have to stay for the whole time. It’s a great opportunity just to meet and have a chat together and a good demonstration of our church school partnership. Anyone from church is welcome to attend the after school worship as a way of supporting the Explorers club and sharing in worship with members of our schools, you don’t have to have a child at school to do so!
