Advent/Epiphany group 2009 at Christ the Servant, Digmoor
The Bible is a collection of 66 books. Some are historical, some contain poems or prophecies, some are biographical. This course helped us to explore and understand the Bible. We followed the overall story, from creation through the struggle of humanity, the journey of a nation, to the ministry of Jesus and the development of the early church.
Advent 1 - From Abraham to Joshua
Advent 2 - From Joshua to the exile
Advent 3 - From the exile to John the Baptist
Epiphany 4 - The ministry of Jesus
Epiphany 5 - The early church
Epiphany 6 - The early church
Epiphany 7 - The ongoing journey
Following the course Louise Clark, a member of the group, wrote:-
"What was it all about? The answer was to have a quick look at the big book, or should that be books of the Bible. Some of the books we found are in fact history books, some are poems, others are law books, and some of the books in the Old Testament even overlap one another.
The books in the New Testament are about Jesus, but even these books are written for different people. Some of the readers were Jews, some of the people were non Jews.
The one thing we did learn from this course is that the Bible has a lot to offer people even in today's world."
