19th/20th June 2010
I would like to thank everyone who helped us to celebrate our 40th anniversary in any way. The weekend was a very big success and everyone that I have spoken to only had good things to say. As one of the many people who organised the celebrations I found it was a very busy time but also very satisfying to see so many happy faces at the different events that we had. It was good to join in with T’others, it brought back many memories from many years ago and it was good to introduce something different to my children. I must admit that I did not think that they would enjoy the evening but they did, especially when they got to watch their dad in the skiffle band, though watching him being silly is something they have seen all their lives.
Well after a very busy Saturday night we then had a very busy Sunday. It started early making sure that everything in the school was ready for all the people who were going to share lunch. We then went over to church to get ready for the celebratory service. I felt very blessed to see so many people who wanted to share all this with us. After the service I then had to get ready to parade with the brigade band and to display with them. We got many compliments from people who watched us and I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the band.
We then went for lunch. After we had finished eating we listened to some of the many memories that people have about Christ the Servant and its many years of mission in the community of Digmoor. We finished off the afternoon with an open air Songs of Praise, which brought some of the community in to the playground to join us. It finished off a very busy but extremely happy weekend of celebrations. So thank you all once again for making our celebrations very successful and giving so many more happy memories that we will be able to share with others in the future.
