Nev's Visit to CTS

On 9th October we were pleased to welcome Nev Rolle, the Principal of St Andrew’s Exuma, to the parish for the Harvest Festival at Christ the Servant.

After the service there was an opportunity for the congregation to share a question and answer session with Nev, who seemed more interested in telling some of the tales about my visit to Exuma. I was getting concerned about what she would say!  Before too many stories came out I decided to give the congregation a taster of things to come by showing some of the photos of my visit, which included a  video of the staff of St Andrew’s doing a ring play dance. At CTS we like to rise to a challenge and the next thing we knew we were all dancing in the church aisle as Nev taught us the dance. We needed a drum beat, which the Brigade band very proficiently provided.

Not to be outdone, we then provided a demonstration for Nev of the line dance “Achy breaky heart”, followed by the Brigade band giving a demonstration of their repertoire. I love these impromptu sessions at CTS, there was a great family atmosphere. While some of us began to prepare for the conker competition the Brigade band, with Nev’s help, worked out the tunes for the Bahamian ring play dances on the glocks. I understand they may be included in their repertoire for the next National Band competition so I look forward to hearing the full version, complete with drums etc.

We finished the day with the 5th Annual Conker Competition
