It is with great regret that we have to report the closure of Martins After School Club with effect from 5th August 2009.
Martins After School Club has been running for five years and has always been committed to supporting the families of children at Bishop Martin School. It has been an important part of the mission of our church over that period.
Unfortunately the numbers attending the club have been low for some time and the club has therefore been running at a considerable loss, subsidised through fund raising. There are no longer sufficient funds to maintain this. The management committee have spent considerable time on this issue but, in the current economic climate, have been unable to secure any additional funding to enable the club to remain open.
We would like to pay tribute to our two employees, Tracy Shuttleworth and Paula Woods, who have been with the club from the start and have been committed to the care of the children. Our recent Ofsted report talked about the positive environment they provided and the way that they valued the children as individuals and addressed their needs.
We would also like to thank all those who have served on the management committee over the last five years and especially those who made the initial vision a reality through their hard work in setting up the club and securing funding to keep it going this long.
On behalf of Christ the Servant Church, we assure you of our ongoing commitment to families within our area and our partnership with Bishop Martin School. See images here
