Dick Whittington by Sam Seaweed

Well what can I say, October seems a long time ago when yet again we started our rehearsals for this year’s panto.  And yes we were all excited to see what was in store this year.

Being in college I said to myself this year I am not doing as much because of my course work and working at weekends up to Christmas, but oh well these things just take over you and so the story begins…..

I stated with a small part in the chorus as well as doing the part as the Town Crier I was doing well turning up to rehearsals even after I’d finished work and I had managed to fit it around all that I was doing.  So far so good, the music was coming together, the script was getting better and King Rat even started without her script in November but we soon put a stop to that!

Then came the new year all happy and going well so what does are lovely Director do we need to fill Sam Seaweeds part so I know I’ll ask Hannah.

Oh well just another part to learn so I had a whole three weeks to learn another part. But this wasn’t the best I now had to do five costume changes and remember which person I was, Londoner, Harem, Police, Sam, Town Crier?

All of a sudden it was panto week and yes there was a bit of pressure to get it right and to make it better than last year.  (And yes I got a bit stressed!).

All I can say is I thought I didn’t do a bad job for an amateur and hope that everyone had as good a time watching it as we did doing it.

Can we do it next year and more importantly how many parts will I get for Aladdin?

Who knows?
