There is now a Reader at Christ the Servant

Hi, I am Cath
Let me introduce myself properly- I am Catherine Bell and have been newly licensed as a Reader on 4th April 2009 and will be assisting Rev Janet Heighton in the ministry of God’s word at this church and within the parish of Upholland.

My husband, Bryan, and I have lived in Skelmersdale for 13 years and were indeed married in this church. I have attended the church for more than 20 years and feel extremely privileged to be called to serve God in this way.

The day of licensing at Liverpool Cathedral was awesome and emotional. Arriving with a fellow reader, our first emotion was wow. The building is somewhat impressive yet intimate. It was a long day including a time of praise and reflection and a meeting with Bishop David speaking about his years in ministry. The service itself was, as you can imagine, a bit nerve racking- would it all go according to plan- yes it did. Once relaxed, it was a great occasion and celebration, after all the hard work made even more enjoyable by the attendance and support of family and friends from Christ the Servant church.
